A Swiss Air had to abort their take-off after a ground controller at John F. Kennedy International Airport gave four other aircraft permission to cross the runway at the same time.

It seems to be becoming a common occurrence in the US with ATC making mistakes or not clearly stating their intentions leading to near misses and confusion. It's as though they are competing with other controllers to see who can get the instructions out the fastest for some unknown reason rather than ensuring they are clear, concise and, above all, safe.
